Just in today: a shipment from our latest publisher crush, Youth in Decline. Based in San Francisco, Youth in Decline is run by power couple Ryan and Jane Sands, with the help of their "internet and IRL" friends. Their zines, comics, and books are printed in-house at their Risograph print shop, Mission Risoplex, resulting in an array of full-color publications, each page a satisfyingly simple combination of two or three hues. Though flipping through these comics is a visual treat in itself, a closer look reveals the compelling intricacies of each story. Each issue of Frontier is done by a different artist. Jillian Tamaki's Frontier #7 revolves around the "seductive and secret world of early internet file-sharing," while Emily Carroll offers a gorgeously illustrated horror zine as Frontier #8.
For those who crave the feel of a paperback novel, Youth in Decline presents the sufficiently hefty, 276-page RAV 1st Collection (2014), an epic comic by Mickey Zacchilli printed on goldenrod-colored paper that follows "Juice, Sally, The Snake Prince, a mystery cat, and other bizarre friends as they navigate an esoteric whirlwind of dorks, punks, passive-aggression, kisses, weird basements, and bad breakfast spots."
All Youth in Decline titles featured here are available for purchase on our web store and in our IRL store at 835 W. Washington Blvd. Thanks, Youth in Decline!
